Under the hood

The work comes with receipts.

Open a dashboard, go back a version, and inspect the queries behind it. The evidence stays attached to what was built.

A useful answer should survive someone asking where it came from.

In Calliope, generated dashboards and apps can be unwrapped to inspect their SQL. That includes free-form HTML, and it includes earlier versions of the work.

Go back to the version you saw

An artifact changes as you work with it. A definition gets corrected. A comparison period moves. You ask for a different cut.

The recording above shows browsing that history and unwrapping two versions. The point is to make it possible to inspect the work you’re actually discussing, even when the current version has moved on.

Keep the evidence close

A chat transcript can explain how a conversation unfolded. When you’re checking a number on a page, you also need the query that produced it.

That’s why the receipts belong with the artifact. You can follow the work, inspect the queries, and decide what to ask next.

You shouldn’t have to choose between delegating your BI and being able to see how it works.
